GSA Container Inspection Service
GSA safe & containers opened and re-certified: GSA Class 6 Safe locksmith services for security containers used to store classified documents, components, materials, and equipment. GSA safes are also used to secure funds, valuables, communications equipment, weapons, and controlled substances.
Department of Defense (DoD) Regulation 5200.1R requires that weapons or sensitive items such as funds, jewels, precious metals, or drugs must never be stored separate security containers or safes. Security containers and safes approved for classified material storage are certified by the General Services Administration (GSA).
How to identify a GSA safe? A GSA Approval Label is affixed on the exterior of the safe or vault. The GSA label is clearly visible when the safe vault is locked.
Original security labels may be missing from the container or vault door for a variety of reasons: the container or door may have been opened/repaired in an unauthorized manner; the label fell off; or the label was removed without realizing it’s importance. If the GSA Approval Label is missing, it cannot be confirmed if the container provides the intended level of security. If the integrity of a security container is questionable, it should be inspected.
If a GSA container (safe or vault) is missing the GSA label, it is no longer GSA-qualified and the safe / container needs to be re-inspected. If you need safe or container inspection for GSA certification, Busy Bees has certified technicians. An inspection of a GSA container is also required in other scenarios such modifications.
As an inspector for GSA certification, we can make the following repairs on a GSA Class 5 Safe container:
- Repair or replace a failed part
- Welding per 809A
- Servicing the suspension
- Re-certification of a container
- Adjusting the drawers to close and latch properly
- Repairing the bolt work
- Painting the container
GSA Safe Modifications: For GSA safe or vault, a modification means welding, drilling holes, welding flanges, repairing, opening a container improperly, adding to the container or taking away from the container that was not on the original construction. If a GSA container safe or vault is modified, it must be inspected and recertified.

SCIF Services
In US security and intelligence parlance, a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) is an enclosed area within a building for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) level classified information. SCI is classified information required to be handled within formal access control systems established by the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI).
The physical construction, access control, and alarming of an SCIF facility is defined by the Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 705, which rescinds both DCID 6/9 and DCID 1/21 in force earlier. ICD 705 is the primary guidance on SCIF construction.
